"At Georgia Tech, I have had the opportunity to meet many new people and see for myself exactly how I fit into the world as a whole. I have changed a lot since high school. I came to Georgia Tech with the wrong attitude, but I learned quickly that putting forth a minimal effort would not be enough to maintain a GPA that I could be proud of. Things did not go well for me my first few weeks, but as I adjusted to college, I began to emerge from my former high school identity. I now know that I have the freedom to do what I want, when I want, and with whom I want, so I don't have to fit into any sort of mold or clique. Having to make difficult decisions on my own has given me an opportunity to grow up. My confidence has never been higher. Although classes are difficult at times, I have learned that you have to make time to sit back and enjoy life.
The College of Computing has opened my eyes to how computing affects every aspect of my life. Through my classes and experiences on campus, I know that if I prepare myself and acquire the appropriate knowledge and abilities, I will be able to find success in a field that I love, doing what I love to do.
Since coming to Georgia Tech, I am more motivated in my studies, and I have a clear focus on what I want to do. I am learning how to relate everything that I do towards my goals after graduation. For example, now when I meet someone in the computing field, I know that it is an opportunity for me to build a relationship with that person. Georgia Tech has taught me how to network.
A typical week at Georgia Tech is full of classes, studying, and hanging out with my friends. On weekdays I go to class, come back, and hang out with friends for a few hours, and afterward I study late into the night. On weekends, I hang out in various places around Atlanta. Whether I use MARTA to go to the mall, watch Georgia Tech compete in various sports, or play sports myself, I think of the weekends as my opportunity to release stress and have fun."
