"A typical week includes getting up at about 8:00 a.m. every day and then working on schoolwork and participating in at least one on-campus activity or organization per day. Included in my weekly activities are volunteering for community service on and off campus. I go to class seven hours a day, but I enjoy taking time out to work on my design studio projects. As a community advisor, I also plan programs for my residents throughout the week, which usually includes social time with a s'mores roast or a pizza party. Lunchtime, during the week, is when I hang out with friends. We usually go to Technology Square to eat, get our nails done, and then stop by Starbuck's. I take Friday afternoons and all of Saturday to spend with my family and friends.

Tech is very challenging, and I had to realize that students who come to Tech are the best of the best. My biggest challenge was learning time management. I asked older students how they had become successful, took advice, and recognized what I had to do to become successful like them. In particular, becoming involved in campus activities took a lot of my time, and I had to learn the balance between schoolwork and extracurricular activities. I enjoy being very involved and don't want to just do schoolwork all day, so I know that I have to make the grades in order to continue to be involved in the things I enjoy.

Georgia Tech has provided me with not only an education, but also life skills. I have learned so much about other fields of study through the research I have participated in at Georgia Tech. Industrial Design studio has allowed me to conduct research in the field of foster care and to work on projects for kids who are in need. I truly feel Tech is the place to be if you want to get the true, overall college experience - from a wonderful education to endless outlets for the social aspect. I feel that I could go to any job within my field and feel prepared for the tasks an employer assigns me because of my education from Georgia Tech.

I have found that I can choose any topic to research and someone will be willing to help guide me in the process. I have become interested in the field of design that really impacts those in need. Although the parameters are set for our design projects by the Industrial Design degree program, I know that I can always choose the direction of the project in order to always make a difference. I have learned so much about my field by networking with others who know the most about the topic I am interested in. Networking within my field has led to other opportunities, such as internships and even jobs. I have developed relationships with designers and their companies, and I have been offered internships as a result."

Pull out quote: "Tech is very diverse in its population and its academic fields, and it has provided me a chance to really understand what I want to do five, ten, and even twenty years from now."
